Well known hotelier Niall Rochford from Ashford Castle has walked from Cork to Cong, Co. Mayo, in memory of his late wife Stella. This journey over 12 days in total where Niall embarked on the challenge to raise vital funds for and awareness of pancreatic cancer, which Stella passed away from. Stella was born in Cork and studied at UCC. Tragically, she passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2022, just eight weeks after her shock diagnosis. The Cork2Cong Challenge not only retraces Stella’s life story but also highlights the urgent need for greater awareness of pancreatic cancer.
This disease affects more than 600 people in Ireland each year and tragically claims the lives of five out of six patients diagnosed. Pancreatic Cancer Ireland was founded in 2025 by Rachel Duquesnois following the death of her mum, Martina Dunne to the disease in 2022; Pamela Deasy who underwent a successful treatment programme with chemotherapy, followed by combined chemo/radiotherapy prior to an 11-hour Whipple surgery; and Niall Rochford, who lost his wife, Stella, to the disease in 2022, eight weeks after her diagnosis.
Pancreatic cancer is not one of the more commonly diagnosed cancers but unfortunately it is one of the leading causes of cancer related deaths worldwide.

Choosing antiques is a sustainable practice that benefits both the environment and your personal style. 🌿
Reuse: Antiques are items that have already been made and used. By choosing antiques, you're reusing existing products instead of buying new ones, which helps reduce waste.
Recycle: When you purchase antiques, you're effectively recycling old items. This reduces the demand for new resources and minimizes the environmental impact of producing new goods.
Rediscover: Antiques often come with a rich history and unique charm. By incorporating them into your life, you're rediscovering the beauty and craftsmanship of the past, and giving these items a new lease on life.
